One of the biggest misconceptions for the average Joe Blow is that doing copious amounts of cardio is the best way to lose that winter or lifetime belly.....
I will go over 4 ways of how to lose weight, and let you decide which one is the best.
First we have the cardio approach. Ok, this is a great way of strengthening your heart and also losing weight, but the cons are that you will lose muscle too, which will slow down your metabolism (the amount of calories you can burn in a day) and can actually worsen posture if you run with poor form.
Second we have diet. Diet is a great way to lose weight but the only drawback is that you don’t increase your metabolism and if you revert to poor eating habits your metabolism would not have increased and you will stack back on any weight you had lost.
Third is the weight program. Weights are a great way of increasing your metabolic rate (metabolism) and correcting posture, drawback is that you don’t get the sustained cardio fitness if you were doing just cardio alone.
The best way to lose weight is to get a knowledgeable personal trainer who can provide you with a balance of all three aspects above. Too much cardio has a tendency to burn muscle, doing weights increases muscle mass which in turn increases metabolism, plus you can alter your posture by training the particular muscles that will counter your muscular imbalance.(posture usually is an imbalance or a muscular tightness issue).
You have to get on top of your diet, if you can’t control what you eat, you might not be able be able to lose weight. Finally you have to want to lose weight or old habits will not set you free.
If you are one of the 1% of people who thinks they can adhere to this advice you will have success, however you will have to know how to correct posture via weight exercises and stretching, if you are not I advise you to get a personal trainer that you can trust.
